Puppets with SERIOUS attitude
and whom exactly is "evil cat puppets"?
Late in the previous century, Evil Cat Land began as an animation company when Monty Python's Graham Chapman introduced our animated character The Evil Cat to the world on his Cinemax series The Dangerous Film Club.
We still do lots of animation-- currently we are in production with the television series Angry Little Asian Girl starring Margaret Cho (based on Lela Lee's comic strip).
However, this website is not about our animation work. It is about the PUPPETIC CHAOS we began perpetrating in 2014. We have done many projects since then, among them producing and directing puppet segments for Attention Deficit Theater, a sketch comedy series on the CW Network (starring Jaime King and produced by Sarah Michelle Gellar) and for Kristina Wong's socially progressive kids show Radical Cram School.
We have performed live and have had our puppet films screened internationally at such venues as SXSW, Brooklyn Academy of Music, the REDCAT Theater, the Egyptian Theatre/American Cinematheque, Highways Performance Space, the Skirball Center, the Hammer Museum and the Hollywood Fringe Festival. Onstage, we have shared the bill with Kids in the Hall and The Muppets.
Whatever we do, it's infused with lots and lots of ANARCHY and CHAOS because logic is merely a polite form of tyranny.
